Ros, it is found in a large bald cypress tree...the trunk of it is visible behind the orchid in the post...its roots wrap around the bark of the tree, holding the orchid in place.

That's a gorgeous species. I had not heard of it before. Great shots.
We have only about twenty species here in Ontario, but I was lucky to run into two Lady Slipper species this spring ( in a mosquito infested bog)
